Allegretto Wavelight
Sugarland Eye & Laser Center is committed to offering the latest in laser vision technology to our patients. Our LASIK surgeon, Dr. Khokhar, is one of a select few surgeons in the region trained to use multiple types of lasers, such as the VISX, the Intralase, and even the new Allegretto Wavelight. As a result, Dr. Khokhar is able to use the technology that best suites your eyes.

The Allegretto Wavelight is one of the newest lasers to enter the market. It is the first laser to receive concurrent approval for the treatment of both nearsightedness and farsightedness. The system also has a unique eye-tracking system which automatically adjusts to changes in pupil size during treatment. High-speed eye tracking captures the eye's movements 200 times per second. As a result, every laser pulse is very precise and accurate.

Presently, the Allegretto Wavelight is the fastest vision correction laser available in the United States. With around 400 treatment pulses per second, one diopter can be corrected in just about 4 seconds. Speedy treatments certainly help patients experience less stress and discomfort.

One of the unique features of the Allegretto Wavelight is the way it uses wavefront-optimized technology. With Allegretto, wavefront data had been programmed into the laser for modifying standard treatments. In addition to optimizing results, wavefront-optimization allows for treatments to automatically compensate for the curvature of the cornea. In this manner, the spherical shape of the cornea is preserved to a greater degree than some other lasers.

Allegretto Wavelight can produce some of the largest optical zones available. The optical zone is the part of the cornea that is corrected by the laser. If a patient's pupil is larger than the optical zone, they may experience poor night and peripheral vision. That is why a larger optical zone is especially important for night vision in patients with very large pupils.
