Droopy Eyelids: Dermatochalsis
As we get older, the very thin skin above the eyes starts to loose its elasticity. The skin in this area is very movable and loose, so it is one of the first regions to begin drooping. The long medical term for this is dermatochalasis. Many individuals compensate for this drooping of the eyelids by raising their eyebrows; however, this can lead to headaches and fatigue. Sometimes the droopiness of the eyelids is so pronounced that is can interfere with your visual field or lead to severe eye irritation. This condition can be addressed with an outpatient surgical procedure called blepharoplasty.
