Sugarland Eye & Laser Center was founded in 2004 by award-winning LASIK surgeon Amjad Khokhar, MD. Dr. Khokhar is one of the most experienced LASIK surgeons in the region. Committed to bringing the latest advancement in laser vision technology, our chief surgeon brought the revolutionary space-age iLASIK to Sugarland Eye & Laser Center. This technology allowed LASIK to be approved for NASA astronauts, Air Force fighter pilots, and Navy SEALS. Though Sugarland Eye & Laser Center, the same vision correction procedure is available for you.
Dr. Khokhar was born in Alexandria, Louisiana. He grew up in the region attending premier schools such as the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts. After high school, Dr. Khokhar decided to pursue an education in medicine. His premedical education was completed at Rice University where he majored in the Cognitive Sciences. After graduating Magna Cum Laude, he went to medical school at Baylor College of Medicine located in the Texas Medical Center. Dr. Khokhar’s internship after medical school took place largely at Ben Taub General Hospital. His ophthalmologic surgical training then began at the University of Texas Medical Branch. It was during his surgical residency that Dr. Khokhar was able to learn LASIK from the most recognized leaders in the country. Dr. Khokhar performed LASIK surgery at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital before establishing his own LASIK clinic in Sugar Land. Dr. Khokhar is also an acclaimed educator instructing young physicians as they rotate with him at Sugarland Eye & Laser Center. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the Texas Medical Association, Houston Ophthalmologic Society, Harris County Medical Society, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He is served as the Chief of Ophthalmology at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital. When Dr. Khokharis not performing surgery at Sugarland Eye & Laser Center, he speaks with local organization about eye health issues and volunteers in community health clinics. Dr. Khokhar has been married since 2001 to his wife Amber. Dr. Khokhar treasures the free time he spends with his wife Amber and their two little girls, Sara and Saniyah.
Megan Heany, OD
 Dr. Heany was born and raised in small town Nebraska. She completed her undergraduate work at Nebraska Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and emphasis in Chemistry and Psychology. While at Nebraska Wesleyan she was very involved in campus organizations, and held numberous leadership positions. She then obtained her doctorate degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry and is a licensed therapeutic optometrist and glaucoma specialist.
Dr. Megan Heany has extensive training and was recognized by the Vision Care Institute in Jacksonville, Florida as a contact lens fitting specialist for both astigmatism/toric and bifocal lenses. She has extensive experience with the management of cataract surgery and common ocular conditions such as corneal foreign bodies, dry eye, eye infections, and glaucoma. She also specializes in providing care to custom intraLASIK patients. Her focus is on the newest technologies such as iLASIK and OptiLASIK. She brings her vast experience in laser vision correction to the award-winning LASIK team at Sugarland Eye & Laser Center.
She has resided in the Sugar Land Area since 2007 with her husband Robbie, and is pleased to contribute to her community by providing personal and advanced eye care. When she is not working, Dr. Heany enjoys running, Nebraska football, and spending time with her dog Charlie. |
