Strabismus surgery refers to a procedure in which
muscle lengths and attachments can be adjusted
to bring the eyes into alignment. Most cases of
strabismus occur in children, often infants. Whether
infant, child, or adult, Dr. Khokhar's thorough
sensorimotor testing allows him to design a procedure
for optimal ocular alignment.
Strabismus surgeries are completed under general
anesthesia. That is, the patient is completely
asleep during strabismus surgery. Infants and
children generally tolerate the procedure very
well. Adults generally need approximately 1 week
off from school or work after the surgery. Results
can often be appreciated immediately; however,
several weeks must pass before a final result
can be seen. |
